PCN connection from Buona Vista to Choa Chu Kang

Did a cruising ride with the intention of going  the distance, given the fact that i haven’t ridden for a while, i thought this would help to get my cadence for riding back up.

Somehow, i ended up simply trying to see how long i could go just going along the Park Connector Network starting from Buona Vista. I ended up in Choa Chu Kang and discovered a few parks around that area which was really nice. Took a ride down some routes that i have never ridden before too and ended up at 10-Mile Junction. I made a wrong turn at that point and didn’t manage to make it to ZhengHua Park. But taking on Bukit Timah slopes was something i haven’t done in a while too.

Anyhow, i’ll try to make it to ZhengHua next time. That should give a rather good 50km+ ride.

Route Map and Videos coming up.

NightHawk X6 Performance

If you have a nighthawk X6 from Netgear and think that you have a great router… boy are you right! Until you turned on all the features and run a speed test. To your horror, you realise that you just can’t hit the maximum bandwidth your ISP has provided. Perhaps getting stuck at about ~350Mbps to ~400Mbps.

Word of advice. Turn OFF the traffic meter, and life would be great again. Something around ~800+ Mbps type of great.

Riding the Shimanami Kaido

This post comes a couple of days after riding the Shimanami Kaido. It’s took a while to convince myself that it was worth writing this but I guess it serves as a way of concluding my first ever long distance ride overseas. The best part of which was it was done with a loved one.

The worst part? Was that my Garmin hung midway through the ride and I lost a days worth of ride track. Looking at the bright side, was that I didn’t lose everything, thanks to Strava on my iPhone…  Continue reading Riding the Shimanami Kaido

Some notes on LRT224. Freezing and Hangs

Got a LRT224 for its OpenVPN capabilities but ended up struggling with stability issues. Here are the symptoms.

The router would work fine for an undetermined amount of time and would then dynamically freeze. the Logs might or might not show any information except something that says

upnpd[438]: UPNP Rule is not FULL!!!

Not much information other than that. Rebooting the router seems to work for a while, but the router might freeze again after an undetermined amount of time. This can be extremely painful if you have services that you need to connect to behind the router. After lots of testing and trying, it seems that the LRT224 might have issues with uPNP. No one seems to be able to pinpoint the exact problem but there has been some reports of users facing issues. Continue reading Some notes on LRT224. Freezing and Hangs
